The concept of operating system was changing and now they were not only supposed to run the computer but it also brought in a huge number of features. The popularity of Windows Vista fizzled out within a few days. Most people said that the Operating System had a detrimental effect on the PC’s performance. The claims were found to be true as a computer with Windows Vista platform was found to be far slower than similar specification computers or laptops.

Even though there were many people complaining about the poor performance of Vista PCs, there were many people who loved using Windows Vista. The problems that people faced were primarily because of usage of incompatible software, incompatible hardware and many such problems. It is true that there are a few drawbacks in Windows Vista but when you make the optimal use of the system, it performs well and obviously does live up to the promises. Let’s take you through some of the simple yet effective tips by which you may make your system perform better.

Smooth Start of Your System

There are numerous programs start running once your computer boots. Majority of these are system programs and are essential for proper start-up of the computer. Since the system is already engrossed with the running of these programs, it is always advised that programs that are not essential should be removed from the startup program list.

Click on the Start menu, then select the Run option. Once the run window opens, type- services.msc. When run the command a list of run a window opens which displays all the startup programs; uncheck those programs which you do not need during startup. Be very careful while you select those as a wrong choice may disrupt in proper running of your system. Generally, when proper choices are made the performance of the computer improves a lot.

Vista Is Safe & Secured!

Among numerous platforms of Windows, Vista is one of the safest one. There are numerous security alerts that Vista generates during activities. You may be copying files or installing software from a secured place, yet Vista is made in such a way that it generates alerts. You can easily do without these security alerts with the help of programs like Expect, TweakVI and so on.

When you are the lone person using your system, using these software can be beneficial. Again, the result would enhance the performance of your PC but one should be a bit careful as there may be potential threats too.

Though in this article we mentioned only a couple of ways by which you may improve the performance of your PC, in reality there are numerous ways by which you may improve your systems performance. When you follow the steps mentioned above your PC would easily be better than what it was. If you know how to make the most of Windows Vista then you would never feel that PCs and laptops using Vista platform are inferior in any aspect!

Windows Operating Systems have always been popular. The success of Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows 95 makes the claim even more concrete, other companies could never make a strong impact as Microsoft came up with better and easier Windows versions every now and then.

The latest version from Microsoft: Windows Vista has changed the complete style of operating system. Windows vista brings along a huge number of features, they look smart as it has an improved graphical user interface, highly secured especially for those surfing the internet and many more. All in all Windows Vista is a feature packed operating system which is easy to use too. Though the story may be different for some; for people who are used to older versions of Windows may finding it difficult to use Windows Vista.

In reality Windows Vista is never tough to use and once you know how to make it work, things would be far easier and simpler for you. One of the common problems that people with Windows Vista users face in the initial days is with adding of new users. In the following steps we would take you through a simple, step by step procedure by which you may add new users and would also help you clarify many doubts that one has with the use of Windows Vista.

1) To add a new user, you need to be in the administrator account. When in the administrator account, click on the Windows logo on the extreme left corner of the screen.

2) Observe a picture just above your current username, click on it. You would observe a popup screen, select the second last option.

3) The result of the previous selection would take you to a screen which displays various accounts that preexist on the system. Generally it should display only one account unless you have created new accounts. In this page you would find an option of adding New accounts. Click on the option and create new users for your PC.

The process of creating new users doesn’t end with that. Apart from the name of the account which you decide, you also have to decide on the amount of privilege that should rest with the users. Unless the account lies with a known person and trusted person, never give away too many options at their disposal. You can also have multiple administrator accounts if you wish to provide similar facilities to the other users too.

When you use Windows Vista platform there are numerous features that one gets; you only need to make the most of options available. Vista isn’t very tough to use too. The process of adding user was described in this article and if you have closely gone through it you would know it isn’t tough. Just try out the various options available and you would see how many features Vista platform offers, it is far better than most of the other platforms available. Making using of the options might seem to be a bit tough but actually they aren’t!

Got a vista OS pre-installed in your system? Well you are not alone- most newly bought desktop and laptop systems come with one. A pre-installed Vista platform is usually the common cause of endless complains among computer users. Software incompatibility issues here and there, very off-putting copyrights and user-agreements, hardware incompatibilities, and most of all, the slow system which put the whole thing down ground zero in terms of efficiency and functionality.

However, complaining about the systems drawbacks time and again will not do your system any good, nor would improve your working performance. How about a few tips about tweaking your windows vista OS into a faster and more efficient machine? Here are some tips which most of you might not have any idea about:

Remove Unnecessary Programs at Start-Up

By default, your system is configured to start several processes and programs once you boot your computer. Truthfully, some of these programs are not needed by your system, and are just pre-configured to start immediately. These programs eat up the space allocated by your computer to function properly and usually lead to a slow response of the system.

To stop non-essential programs from starting during boot, just click Start> Run> and type in Services.msc. In the window, uncheck those programs which are not usually used. Be cautious, however, in unchecking programs as you may stop those essential processes.

Unleash the abilities of your USB Flashdrive

USB Flashdrives are a very common thing nowadays and it’s gradually becoming a necessity for employees and even students. They are good devices to stash all types of files and what’s cooler is that they are highly portable and mobile unlike floppy disks and compact disks.

Flashdrives, in fact, can be used as a resource for a system’s better performance. Just plug it in a USB port and when the autoplay prompt appears, choose Speed Up My System and adjust the amount of memory you wish to be allocated for your computer’s performance.

Disable Security Prompts

Vista is a highly secured platform which necessitates several prompts regarding security during installation, copying of files, and other functions. There are several programs in the internet today which allows one to tweak the security prompts such as the TweakVI. Expect, however, that there might be some risks in terms of security but if the computer you are using is personal and used by no one but you, it would not be a big deal.

Vista may be a little too hard and unfriendly because of its drawbacks; however, there are some tips and tweaks available over the internet to allow a user to improve his system into a better one. Before deciding to down-grade your system through a clean install, try out some of these tips and who knows, it might just work out well for you. Good luck on your tweaking!

Faced with the problem of files and folders being cluttered into one single hard disk drive? Always wanted to make a separate drive for your music and movies, or wanted to keep all your important documents in a different drive for the sake of convenience but have been scared of doing it? Well, here is a step by step guide to help you out in making partition in your hard disk for Vista:-

1)	Make sure you are logged in an administrator account. Press the windows button on the lower left corner of the screen and go to Control Panel.

2)	In the search box, located on the upper right corner, type Disk. In the results, you shall be able to see the link named Create and format hard disk partitions under the Administrative Tools.

3)	Once the window opens, shrink the drive you want to remove empty space from by right clicking it and then clicking on shrink volume.

4)	After some calculations, Windows will display the amount of space that can be shrunk and thus re used to be formatted into a new drive.

5)	Put in the space of the drive you require (remember 1GB = 1024 MB), and click on shrink.

6)	The freed up space is indicated in the row that states your hard disk drive.

7)	Click on the free space and right click on format and give a drive letter and name to the drive and you are done.

People who have recently upgraded from Windows XP or much older Windows 98 to the Vista operating system by Microsoft often find themselves struggling to do even the basic things that they could manage easily on the older versions. One such problem is How to Add a New User in Vista. Well here is a short-cut step by step guide for you.

a)	Assuming that you have an administrator account, click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

b)	Right above your current account’s name, there shall be a picture of the account. Click on it.

c)	The second last option in the screen that would pop up would be Manage Another Account. Click on it.

d)	You shall be taken to a screen that displays all the accounts that are already there on your computer. In most probability, it would only display your account. Anyhow, click on the option stating ‘Create a New Account’.

Most users get really annoyed by the constantly decreasing efficiency of their computer, especially slowing down of the computer and massive execution times. This is very prominent in Vista computers. Well, here is a guide to help all you users in distress. Follow the guide to speed up and clean up your Vista Computer.

1)	The Golden Rule is removing unwanted files and duplicates. Not only they occupy precious space in your hard disk, they even slow down the computer by using up the memory.

2)	Disk Cleanup: The wonder tool that will solve most your computer optimization needs almost instantly, it can be accessed by typing Disk Cleanup after clicking the Windows Button on the lower left corner of the screen and clicking the appropriate button.

3)	After running a couple of scans, the tool will display a list of files that can be deleted segregated under categories. Choose the category/categories of files that you need to delete and click on the ok button.

4)	While most of you have seen the option of Defragmenting the Drive, most do not know what exactly this does. Defragging a drive is like de-cluttering it, arranging the files and programs on the computer in a way that it optimizes the efficiency of the computer and makes it run smoothly. The best feature about Defragmenting a Drive is that before the process takes place, it checks whether or not your computer needs a Defrag.

Follow these steps and see your computer work as good as new.
