Rogers, has been lately offering terrible customer serivce (had to wait 3 hours to chat with their customer service), internet speed low & many times down. So Rogers is trying something new, they are trying to become the fastest wireless carrier in Canada, and the one of the fastest in the world.

Global trade organization for mobile phone providers said that there are more than 1,000 wireless carriers around the globe with fewer than 50 carriers offering the speeds Rogers is promising (Hmm).

Rogers High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network upgrade means peak download speeds will double from 3.6 megabits per second (Mbps) to 7.2 Mbps.

It won't make your phone calls any faster but it will mean faster downloads and quicker web browsing for customers who have one of the only two phones sold by Rogers capable of supporting higher speeds.

Phones sold by Rogers capable of supporting the higher data speeds are the HTC Touch Diamond and the LG Vu T915. Unfortunately Apple 3G iPhone and RIM Blackberry owners will see no benefit since those phones only support the slower speeds.

The Rogers 3.5G next generation network is now available for HTC Touch Diamond and the LG Vu T915 owners in Canada's top with additional locations to cover 75% of the population by the end of December 2008.
