Microsoft has come out with yet another of its amazing products in the category of Operating systems. The latest to be added to the Windows package is Windows 7. Microsoft has officially released its candidate version to be tried out by users all over the world. Windows 7, as Microsoft claims, is the easiest, fastest, and most engaging version of Windows. However, how correct are these claims is for the time to test, as we all remember what happened with Vista.

Windows 7 was formerly codenamed “Blackcomb” and “Vienna”, however its rechristened form, Windows 7, is what was finally decided. According to Microsoft, Windows 7 will be more focused to the incremental upgrade of the Windows line. Also an aim would be to make Windows 7 more compatible with applications and hardware, which were not compatible in the Vista package.
From the initial stages of development of the product, Bill Gates had given ideas that Windows 7 would “be more user-eccentric” and Microsoft would work towards providing its user the best that his money could buy.

Dissecting the “user-eccentric” aspect of this Windows edition, there are a lot of features and functions that set it aside from all of its predecessors. Every task has been simplified in Windows 7, to make the user feel that the world is at their fingertips.
If you are still confused as to why should you prefer Windows 7 over Xp or even Vista, here are some reasons that shall make your decision simpler.

Daily tasks simplified

Keeping in mind the user, Windows 7 has features, which would make tasks quite a lot easier. The Home Group as the name suggests makes it a way lot easier to browse through shared computers, printers and everything else on some other PC in your home operating on Windows 7.

No more hunting through folders and hoards of sub-folders, windows search allows you to directly locate a file.

The new taskbar helps you to view what is open by a translucent preview of what is open and what have you been working on.

Jump Lists are there in Windows 7 to open recently viewed files by a single click

Customized PC

One feature that Microsoft has proudly announced in Windows 7 is the 64-bit computing, which to a layman means nothing. But in factual terms it means lot, as it makes your PC really fast. Windows 7 supports the latest advancement in PC Hardware. Windows 7 uses 64-bit computing and multi-core processors and also accelerated memory utilization helps the hardware to reach its maximum potential.

The Touch Generation

The best and the most amazing part about Windows 7 is that it is touch enabled. If you have the right hardware, then you are in the touch generation.

Like Apple’s iPhone you will be able to flip through pages, pictures and even paint with your fingertips.

As mentioned previously 64-bit computing is a very important aspect of Windows 7.The latest advancement in Hardware from 32-bit computing has made computing faster. Whichever system you choose Windows 7 is ready to handle both of them.

Windows 7 is capable of supporting multiple heterogeneous graphics cards from different manufacturers. Also one of the major changes that are being considered is that of the taskbar, which was same in most versions of windows. One can now pin applications to the taskbar and use the jump list, another new feature from the taskbar itself.

Ever heard of Aero Peek or Aero Snap? Well these are a bunch of catchy features, introduced by Microsoft in Windows 7. The Aero Peek is a very simple but powerful feature, hover over the “Show Desktop” button of windows and all the windows will become transparent and give you a quick look at the desktop. What does Aero Snap do? Well if any of the opened windows are brought to the edges of the screen then it automatically maximizes.

The new features are spell bounding in some cases but the limitations of Windows 7 are yet to be discovered. Until the final version is not ready for market release, one cannot be sure of what Windows 7 is really capable of.

Windows 7, unlike its predecessors has certain hardware requirements and need to be looked into if you want to run it smoothly and be a part of the experience.

Hardware Requirements

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If you have to above facilities then Windows 7 is sure worth a try. Be a part of the Released Candidate Version from Windows, easily downloadable from Microsoft’s very own website.

When Google stopped the referral program where publishers were paid every time someone installed Firefox, our light bulbs should have lightened up, that Google must be up to something. Guess what Google was up to? A new Browser, Google Chrome to create more competition for already struggling Internet Explorer.

Why Would Google Create a New Browser?

Really why? There are already a lot of great browsers out there such as Firefox, Opera, Safari, and okay maybe Internet Explorer. But think about it Google can easily take over all these Browsers. Google is the most visited website on the Internet. People use the Internet to visit websites, and if they visit Google the most, I think they can easily spot "New Google Browser" and download it. Google can easily advertise the browser, and make it look like the best thing ever made!

Is Chrome really all that great?

No, Chrome is a very simple, and plain browser. It is currently not even close to being as good as Firefox, Google will have to keep having new updates released to solve bugs. But Chrome does beat Firefox in usage of Memory, which is why some people like it better, since Firefox and Internet Explorer use up a lot of memory.

So will Chrome be Next Big thing?

Well we will just have to wait and see. I wonder if Google is going to pay publisher for promoting Google Chrome?

Internet Explorer shares have been at its lowest in years, 68.15 percent as of December. While Firefox shares are at 21.34 percent, and Apple's Safari also have climed to 7.93 percent because of the rising sales of Mac computer.

Also Google's Chrome browser, which was released in September, passed one percent in December. The only browser from the Top Five Web browsers which appears to be going nowhere is Opera, which share has been around 0.7 percent since February.

Who uses what?

Firefox and Safari are have high residential usage. Firefox got a high usage when users flooded to the web to get the U.S. election results, and the Black Friday sales also attracted at lot of users to the web.

Winner and Loser

As we start 2009, it is expected that Firefox and Safari will both continue to rise in usage. Safari will mainly raise because of rising sales of Mac computer, while Firefox will increase because of word of mouth.

Guess what? now Wikimedia Foundation says, that they have raised more than $6.2 million since they started the fund-raising. There goal was only $6 million, but the extra money will still be used.

Wikipedia is the 4th most popular site on the Internet. They only have 23 workers, because the whole world, well mostly those who have Internet access do the work for them. All the entries are added by users.

So wikipedia has said that all the extra funds will be kept for the following years and they will keep the donation box so people can still donate.

Yes, many of us hate Rogers, not the guy who made the company, but the service it self. Rogers, has been lately offering terrible customer serivce (had to wait 3 hours to chat with their customer service), internet speed low & many times down. So Rogers is trying something new, they are trying to become the fastest wireless carrier in Canada, and the one of the fastest in the world.

Global trade organization for mobile phone providers said that there are more than 1,000 wireless carriers around the globe with fewer than 50 carriers offering the speeds Rogers is promising (Hmm).

Rogers High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network upgrade means peak download speeds will double from 3.6 megabits per second (Mbps) to 7.2 Mbps.

It won't make your phone calls any faster but it will mean faster downloads and quicker web browsing for customers who have one of the only two phones sold by Rogers capable of supporting higher speeds.

Phones sold by Rogers capable of supporting the higher data speeds are the HTC Touch Diamond and the LG Vu T915. Unfortunately Apple 3G iPhone and RIM Blackberry owners will see no benefit since those phones only support the slower speeds.

The Rogers 3.5G next generation network is now available for HTC Touch Diamond and the LG Vu T915 owners in Canada's top with additional locations to cover 75% of the population by the end of December 2008.
